Mission Intelligence Group is looking to hire a Data Scientist/Systems Engineer-Imagery Standards.

In this role, you will serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and technical resource for the development, profiling and application of GEOINT data content standards for imagery. Performs conceptual, logical and physical data modeling to develop Enterprise and Domain data architectures. Physical data modeling includes semantic integration and mapping of multiple data sources and formats to arrive at a common, harmonized logical data model for imagery.

General Responsibilities:

  • Perform semantic data modeling for enterprise and domain logical data models, and physical data model formats. Skills include XML, XSD, KLV, or other physical formats, data modeling, and relational theory.
  • Develop and maintain domain logical data model artifacts: Logical Data Models, Data Element Dictionaries, Physical Data Models, data format specifications, user guides, and format mappings.
  • Coordinate and hold Technical Reviews with Stakeholder communities to determine requirements to understand the data elements in their domains and relationships among data elements.
  • Define and analyze data requirements, map legacy data stores and formats to data models and perform architectural alignment.
  • Provide expertise in data harmonization and provide data modeling consultations to develop data models and formats for exchange and storage in an agile fashion.
  • Stay current with internal and external standards that specifically focus on data modeling and data formats.

Required Qualifications:

  • Detailed-oriented, good communication skills, willing to be challenged to learn/develop new technical skills
  • Data modeling experience, preferably with Unified Modeling Language (UML) or Entity-Relational
  • XML, KLV, or JSON knowledge, preferably backed by hands-on experience
  • Expertise and knowledge of imagery, sensors (current and emerging), and the data and metadata describing various types of imagery.
  • Ability to analyze various different physical formats and standards, and develop a harmonized and unified solution that reduces repetition and eliminates conflicts.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the ISO 19100 series standards and imagery-related standards such as MIMD or NITF
  • Experience transforming logical models to physical formats
  • Understanding of file format technologies such as JPX or MXF

Education/Certification Requirements:

  • Master's degree plus 4 years of experience, Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of experience, Associates degree plus 8 years of experience, or a minimum of 8 years of experience, in relevant field

Security Requirements: Must be able to obtain, maintain and/or currently possess a TS/SCI security clearance. Active TS/SCI security clearance preferred.
